Conductive Table

Daan Spanjers’ command of the laws of physics may be a result of, as he put it, just healthy curiosity, but it is still impressive. At the Graduation show he displayed a project that is visually attractive even before you have the chance to find out where it comes from. And once you do, it turns out to be not only beautiful but also very ingenious and eye-opening.

Fascinated by the conductivity and use of gold and copper, he brings them back from the abyss of the inside of electrical devices and gives them all the attention they deserve. He mapped a table with conductive copper lines of various breadth, on which cubical objects with little light bulbs inside can be placed to obtain energy. The intensity of light produced in this process varies depending on the breadth of copper lines, symbolizing different everyday situations that call for different kind of lighting.
